Fox Indians

According to William W. Warren the Fox people are not Algonquian! Warren was told by the Ojibways that the Fox Language was distant from the Algonquian Languages. Even whites who were well acquainted with the Algonquians in the 18th and 19th centuries, knew the language of the Fox was not Algonquian. The Fox were constantly at war against the Anishinabe people which is yet another indicator they were not Algonquian. The Swan Creek and Black River Chippewa's, eventually absorbed these people Warren called obnoxious.
