Located in north central Saskatchewan southeast of Cold Lake by 15 miles and 15 miles from Alberta, the Chippewa Treaty 9 Reservation settlement of Big Island Lake has a population of 766 according to the 2011 census. The community has ? housing units and an average household size of ? persons per housing unit. Around ? continue to speak Anishinabe at Big Island Lake.
