Birney, Montana


This settlement is located at the east end of the Northern Cheyenne Reservation. It covers an area of 15.1 sq. mi., which means it is a very rural settlement. Birney, Montana is a CDP or census designated place. In the 2010 census the population of Birney, Montana was reportedly at 119. Although the cdp is tiny it does have its own zip code which is 59012. It is 15 miles southwest of Ashland and in the same beautiful mountain valley as Ashland as well. Native Americans account for 100% of the cdp's population. There are a total of 39 housing units in the cdp, which gives the cdp an average household size of near 3.0 persons per housing unit. The settlement is one that is currently endurring tough economic times. Around 50% of the settlement lives below the poverty line. Birney, Montana has an elevation of 3,123 feet above sea level.
