Canyon Day, Fort Apache Reservation


It is one of 6 Fort Apache settlements located in Arizona. The CDP or census designated place of Canyon Day, covers an area of 3.8 sq. mi., which means it is a very rural settlement. In the 2000 census the population of Canyon Day, Arizona was at 1,092. Native Americans accounted for 98% of the cdp's population. Whites accounted for 1% of the population. Economically the settlement is doing poorly. Around 40% of the cdp's citizens live below the poverty line. There is a total of 301 housing units in Canyon Day, which gives the cdp an average household size of a little over 3.6 persons per housing unit. Elevation is 5,000 feet above sea level.
