Cape Croker, Ontario

This small Ojibway community is located within Chippewas of Nawash Reserve. Below are links to google earth photos of Cape Croker. Originally all of Saugeen Peninsula was set aside by English leaders to be an Ojibway Reserve. However, greedy and selfish English leaders could not control their greed for land. They illegally stole most of the Ojibway Saugeen Peninsula Reserve. It led to most Ojibway's migrating elsewhere. What little land left to Ojibway People on Saugeen Peninsula is located at Nawash. Cape Croker has around 50 or so housing units. Canada does not provide details or demographics for Reserve communities so trying to find out the population of Cape Croker is futile. Another factor we have to exclude is total number of housing units within this Reserve which is 410. Reserve leaders are allowing whites to invade and colonize their Reserve. So out of 410 housing units, around 252 are lived in by Reserve citizens. Average household size is 2.4 persons per household which is below normal for Ojibway communities. I would estimate Cape Croker has a population of near 100 to 125. Ojibway Language is no longer spoken at this Ojibway Reserve.
