Chipewyan Prairie or Janvier


Located in northern Alberta about 30 miles west of Saskatchewan, 65 miles northeast of Heart Lake, and 105 miles north of Cold Lake (the settlement and not the lake), the Chippewa Treaty 9 Reservation settlement of Chipewyan Prairie or Janvier, has a population of 368 according to the 2011 census. The community has 90 housing units and an average household size of 4.1 persons per housing unit. Around 195 continue to speak corrupted Anishinabe at Chipewyan Prairie or Janvier.
