Dayton Homesite, Montana

It is located just west of Highway 93 and the settlement of Dayton. The housing units which number close to 20, are located along Black Lake Road which leads to Black Lake. I found this location using the Flathead Reservation Transportation Plan (2007-2017) web page or pdf file. A BIA Homesite is an area of Reservation land where housing units are allowed to be built. In some cases they are built for non whites for recreational use. The population of this tiny settlement is probably between 50 and 70. It depends on family size. I don't know the exact demographics of this settlement.

Flathead Reservation leaders will add land to Dayton Homesite so more housing units will be constructed. Funding is a primary concern. The elevation of this settlement is 2,948 feet above sea level. They may also want to name this small settlement Black Lake in the future, if more housing units are in fact built. Black Lake is located a little over 1 mile directly west of the main housing units within Dayton Homesite. North of Black Lake Road are a couple of large farms. Dayton Homesite is a Kootenai settlement. Below are a few google earth pictures of the beautiful region around Dayton Homesite.
