Deninu K'ue First Nation & History
This mixed Anishinabe-Athabasacan-Inuit band or community, lives in the northwest territories. Their tribal history probably involved being members of the iron confederation. They signed the 1921 treaty 11 with canada. The deninu kue (they are also known as the fort resolution reserve) Chippewan (chipewyans) reserve has few living on the first nation. The total enrolled population of the deninu kue first nation is 831, with 1 living off reserve. It is very similar to the other first nations of the northwest territories. The great majority live off the land that is their first nations. Many Chippewan (chipewyans) speak anishinabe. The Chippewan (Chipewyan) are really Anishinabek who absorbed a great many non Algonquian Indians amongst them.
