Located in the western portion of the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, the Chippewa settlement (it is rural) of East Keweenaw
is spread out over the northeastern portion of the L'Anse Reservation. It covers quite a large area. Using google earth
i counted around 80 or so housing units over the large area. Since it is common for Chippewa settlements to have average household
sizes of 3.0 to 4.0 persons per household, east keweenaw probably has a population between 240 and 320. Though i am not
certain that this settlement is in fact a Chippewa settlement, i will for the sake of the Chippewa's of the L'Anse Reservation
(the settlement is on the Reservation) claim that it is an Indian settlement. Most of the housing units are situated
next to the shores of Lake Superior. Most of the citizens are probably Native American. Below are several links to
pictures of the beautuful Chippewa settlement of East Keweenaw, Michigan.
