East Onigum, Leech Lake Reservation

Located in the southwestern portion of the Chippewa Leech Lake Reservation, is the Chippewa settlement of East Onigum. It is located on the eastern shores of Agency Bay. There are around 50 or so housing units located in east onigum. There may be more around the settlement but resorts are in the way. The population of east onigum may be near 200. However, the population actually may be higher because it is difficult to use google earth to correctly estimate the population, and not to mention, to separate those areas which are Indian, from white resorts. Then it is difficult to see all housing units because of the dense forest growth. Native Americans make up the majority of the population. Below are several links to pictures of the beautiful Chippewa settlement of East Onigum, Minnesota.
