East Pokegama, Lac du Flambeau Reservation
Located on the Chippewa Lac du Flambeau Reservation, the Chippewa settlement of East Pokegama (it is located a liitle east of Pokegama Lake), is located just north of Lac du Flambeau and is considered to be a part of that CDP. However, from what i see it is quite different. It is connected to Lac du Flambeau by Little Pines Road, Makwa Trail Road, CTHD, and Observation Tower Road. The main part of East Pokegama is along Waz Hask Trail Road which leaves Little Pines Road and then merges with Makwa Trail Road. There are around 33 housing units located along Waz Hask Trail Road. Nearly all appear to be duplexes.
Along Little Pines Road are 40 or more housing units. There are around 25 housing units along Makwa Trail Road. Along CTHD and Observation Tower Road are around 15 housing units. In all, there may be near 140 housing units in East Pokegama. That's if the housing units along Waz Hask Trail Raod are duplexes. If they ain't the number of housing units is closer to 110. The population of East Pokegama is likely between 450 and 550. Elevation of the community is 1,600 feet above sea level. Below are several links to google earth pictures of the Chippewa settlement of East Pokegama, Wisconsin.
