East Poplar Hill


Located in northwestern Ontario and isolated, the Chippewa Treaty 9 Reservation settlement of East Poplar Hill has a population of 527 according to the 2011 census. Actually the population of East Poplar Hill is included with the population of Poplar Hill as are it's housing units and language. East Poplar Hill is 0.5 miles east of Poplar Hill. The community has 110 housing units and an average household size of 4.9 persons per housing unit. Around 440 continue to speak Anishinabe at East Poplar Hill. The isolated Ojibwa community is 36 miles east of Manitoba and supposedly signed Treaty 5. In Anishinabe, East Poplar Hill would be pronounced as Wa-bun Ah-sa-di Kish-ka-di-na.
