Heart Lake


Located in north central Alberta about 60 or so miles west of Saskatchewan, the Chippewa Treaty 9 Reservation settlement of Heart Lake has a population of 188 according to the 2011 census. The community has 30 housing units and an average household size of 5.9 persons per housing unit. Around 45 continue to speak Anishinabe at Heart Lake. In Anishinabe, Heart Lake would be pronounced as O-day-min Za-ga-i-gan. Below is a link to a picture of the Chippewa Treaty 9 Reservation settlement of Heart Lake.
