Indian Village


It is one of the many communities of the Black Hills Indian Reservation. Indian Village Shoshone is another of the Black Hills Reservation communities located along the eastern slopes of the Sierra Nevada Mountains. Actually Indian Village is 65 miles east of the Sierra Nevada Mountains but yet close enough to view the Sierra Nevada Mountains if they had the chance. Supposedly the population of Indian Village is 50. Nearly all are Indian. The summers have gotten hotter at Indian Village. The hottests summers on earth may happen at Indian Village and Furnace Creek which is a third of a mile to the north. Although Furnace Creek and Indian Village are located further north than Las Vegas, which is 100 miles to the southeast, and almost as far north as Fresno, the winters are warmer at Furnace Creek and Indian Village. Average high temperature for the coldest month (December) is 65 degrees. The average high temperature for the hottest month (July) is 116. However, since 2003, it is averaging close to 119 degrees for an average July high temperature at Indian Village. Fresno's coldest month has an average high temperature of 54. The coldest month at Las Vegas has an average high temperature of 56 degrees. There are around 25 housing units at Indian Village. The average household size is 2.0 persons per housing unit.
