Rocky Boy Tribe of Chippewa Indians of Montana

Little Elbow, Minnesota

It is located in Little Elbow Township which has a population of 259 according to a 2010 census. Indians make up 75% of Little Elbow Townships population but 79% when including mixed bloods. Little Elbow or Viiz (in Ojibway biminik means elbow yet we have to include a plural along with a past tense and future tense) so bi or vi is an Ojibway correct word for elbow; so Viiz means Little Elbow and by adding "iz" to vi; it makes it diminutive; is located in extreme southeastern part of Little Elbow Township, about a half a mile northwest of Elbow Lake. There are about 5 or 6 housing units located in this tiny settlement. Two may be mobile homes or manufactured homes. Population is probably between 10 and 20. WER leaders must organize this community, name it and construct new housing units.
