Rocky Boy Tribe of Chippewa Indians of Montana
It is one of many communities which make up the Black Hills Indian Reservation. It is about 1.0 miles north of La Posta and 4.5 miles north of North Campo and 6.10 miles north of Campo. They are not to be confused with Campo, California which is 11.10 miles to the southwest of Manzanita. Mexico is 9.8 miles to the south. There around 40 or more housing units in Manzanita. However, the housing units area spread out over a large area. Manzanita is not an actual settlement nor a CDP. The population of Manzanita is probably between 120 and 160. The surrounding area is mountainous and has the appearance of a very lush desert. However, the climate conditions are not arid or desert like. The region receives around 15 inches of precipitation a year. You'll notice in the google earth photos the rocky terrain. Elevation is 4,200 feet about sea level. Below are several google earth photos of Manzanita.
