Marty, Yankton Reservation

It is only two of six total settlements on the Yankton Reservation of South Dakota that is predominantly Native American. Marty had a population of 421 according to the 2000 census. The CDP or census designated place of Marty, is 90% Native American. Whites accounted for 4% of the cdp's population. Mixed bloods accounted for 3% of the population, while Hispanics accounted for 8% of the cdp's population. There is a total of 106 housing units in the cdp of Marty which gives the cdp an average household size of 4.0 persons per housing unit. Economically the citizens of Marty are doing not so well. Around 41% of the cdp's population live below the poverty line. Marty covers an area of 3.2 sq. mi. Elevation is 1,447 feet above sea level. Zip code is 57361.
