Matachewan

This Chippewa Treaty 9 Reservation settlement is located in eastern Ontario. It is 125 miles east of the Chippewa Treaty 9 Reservation settlements located near Chapleau, Ontario and 50 miles west of the Quebec border. According to a 2012 population estimate, the population of Matachewan is 40. They have year round road access to white settlements which means their settlement will remain small or eventually become a ghost town. No one speaks Anishinabe there. Below is a link to a picture of the Chippewa Treaty 9 Reservation settlement of Matachewan.
