McLaughlin, Standing Rock-Cheyenne River Reservation


It is another Standing Rock-Cheyenne River Reservation settlement in South Dakota. The city of McLaughlin covers an area of 0.4 sq. mi. According to the 2000 census McLaughlin, South Dakota had a population of 775. There is a total of 291 housing units in the city, which gives the city an average household size of about 2.7 persons per housing unit. The zip code for McLaughlin, South Dakota is 57642. Economically, the city's citizens are doing much better than most other Standing Rock-Cheyenne River Reservation settlements. Around 25% of the city's citizens live below the poverty line. Native Americans accounted for 55% of the city's population. Whites accounted for 41% of the population. Mixed bloods accounted for 2% of the population, while Hispanics accounted for 4% of the population of McLaughlin. McLaughlin's elevation is 2,001 feet above sea level.
