It is located in the southwestern corner of Mellette County. Though it is not considered to be a city, town, village, or even a cdp (census designated place), Norris does look like a small town as you will see in the google earth photographs. The settlement covers 21.3 sq. mi., but most of the housing units are located in one small area. According to the 2010 census the population of Norris was 152. There are over 60 housing units in the settlement with the majority located in the small area previously mentioned. Most of the citizens are Native American. A few farms surround the region.
