Rocky Boy Tribe of Chippewa Indians of Montana

Oak Point, Minnesota

Located in LLR southwestern portion, is a LLR settlement known as Oak Point or Mi-ti-go-mish Ne. Using google earth, i counted what appears to be 25 or more housing units in this small LLR community, located on Leech Lakes western shores. There is a resort in that area i have not included. It is located to it's south and west of this spread out community. Since Ojibway average household sizes average 3.0 and higher per persons per housing unit, Oak Point may have a population between 50 and 75 or possibly higher. Native Americans probably make up a majority of Oak Point's population. Below is a link to a google earth satellite image of Oak Point, Minnesota and links to other Leech Lake Reservation communities.
