Patuanak, Saskatchewan


This Treaty 5 Chippewa Reservation community is located along the extreme northern shores of the northern portion of Lac (lake) Ile a la Crosse, Saskatchewan. It is directly to the south of Wapachewunak (Vapuchevunak) by about 1.5 miles. Patvanak, Saskatchewan is a Chippewan (Chipewyan) of English River, village. The population of Patuanak, Saskatchewan is 64 according to the 2011 census. It decreased by 20 from the 2006 census. The number of housing units in Patvanak is 26 with 23 occupied. The average household size is 2.6 persons per housing unit which is way below normal for Chippewa settlements. The Anishinabe language (in the corrupted Dene form) is widely spoken at Patvanak.
