Pelican Lake


Located in central Saskatchewan about 91 miles east of Alberta, the Chippewa Treaty 9 Reservation settlement of Pelican Lake has a population of 972 according to the 2011 census. Not all live in this one village however. The community has 155 housing units and an average household size of 6.1 persons per housing unit. Around 435 continue to speak Anishinabe at Pelican Lake. In Anishinabe, Pelican Lake would be pronounced as Zhay-day Za-ga-i-gan. Pelican Lake is adjacent to the resort village of Chitek Lake.
