It is located 4.5 miles south of Moss Lake and 9.5 miles southwest of Cass Lake. It covers an area of about 0.35 sq. mi. It is located in Hart Lake Township, Hubbard County, Minnesota which had a population of 509 according to a 2010 census. Indians make up 14.9% or 76, of Hart Lake Townships population but 16.9% or 86, when including Mexicans and mixed bloods. Nearly all of Hart Lake Township, Hubbard County, Minnesota is located off Reservation. Since this settlement is not a cdp, city, town, or village i thought i name it after a street some of it's housing units are located along. That is Pemmican Drive. There are over 20 housing units in Pemmican. It has an elevation of 1,387 feet above sea level. I don't know it's average household size but Chippewa settlements tend to have average household sizes higher than that of whites. It could be between 3.5 and 5.0 persons per housing unit. Population of Pemmican is likely between 40 and 60. Pemmican is a rather new Leech Lake Reservation settlement. It does not show up in google earths historical imagery until 2003.
