Pennington, Leech Lake Reservation

Located in the northwestern portion of the Chippewa Leech Lake Reservation, is the Chippewa settlement of Pennington. The settlement covers a large area and is surrounded to the west by three white resorts which i have tried to not include while estimating the number of housing units in the community. Using google earth, i counted around 60 to 70 housing units in Pennington. Some of them are in the community of Cass River. Since the average Chippewa household averages between 3.0 to 5.0 persons per housing unit, the population of Pennington, may be between 180 and 240. Most citizens are probably Native American. Below are several links to pictures of the beautiful rural Chippewa settlement of Pennington, Minnesota.
