Rocky Boy Tribe of Chippewa Indians of Montana

Poston

It is one of the many communities of the Black Hills Indian Reservation. Poston is the only other settlement on the Colorado River Reservation which is predominantly Native American when including the Mexican and mixed bloods population. The population of Poston in the 2010 census was 285, which is a significant drop from the 2000 population of 389. Poston is a cdp or Census Designated Place. It covers an area of 1.4 sq. mi. Native Americans including Mexicans and mixed bloods, make up 97.2% of the cdp's population. Unlike the town of Parker, the living conditions of the community are similar to Reservations which are predominantly Native American. At least 46% or half of the cdp's population, lives below the poverty line. Below are links to pictures of Poston.
