Turtle River, Minnesota

It is another tiny Leech Lake Reservation settlement located in them woods. This LLR settlement has no name so i thought i would name it after a river that flows south and west of it. That be Turtle River. It is located in Sugar Bush Township, Beltrami County, Minnesota which had a population of 247 according to a 2010 census. Indians make up 25.5% or 63, of it's population but 28.3% or 70, when including Mexicans and mixed bloods. About half of this township is off Reservation. Turtle River or in Ojibway Mac-ca-noc Sip-pi, housing units, which number as many as 15, are located between Preston Lane Northeast, North Branch Drive NE, Ryan Lane NE, and along County Road 20. Most housing units are mobile homes. Mac-ca-noc Sip-pi is located eleven miles north of Cass Lake and two miles from Big Lake. Population of Mac-ca-noc Sip-pi may be between 30 and 50. Elevation is 1,312 feet above sea level. I don't know it' demographics. It is, however, located at LLR extreme northern part. It could be predominantly white. Below are a few google earth satellite images of Turtle River, Minnesota and links to other Leech Lake Reservation communities.
