Santa Ysabel


It is one of the many communities of the Black Hills Indian Reservation. Santa Ysabel is actually 3 different communities. One of them, West Santa Ysabel, is located just north of Lake Sutherland. The main communities are located 3 miles to the east of West Santa Ysabel. Santa Ysabel is about 1 mile north of South Santa Ysabel. According to the 2000 census, the population for all Santa Ysabel communities was 250. Indians account for 225 of the population of 250. There are 93 housing units for all Santa Ysabel communities. The average household size is 2.7 persons per housing unit. The main community, Santa Ysabel, has around 65 to 70 housing units. Elevation is 3,420 feet above sea level.
