South Box Elder, Rocky Boy Reservation
Located to the south and southeast of Box Elder by over 1 mile, the cdp (Census Designated Place) of South Box Elder is one of the newer settlements on the Anishinabe-Dakota Rocky Boy Reservation. It was built sometime after 1991. At the present time the settlement has over 150 housing units. Since nearby Box Elder has an average household size of 4.0 persons per housing unit, it should be likewise at South Box Elder, which would mean the population of South Box Elder is at 600 or higher. The settlement is located on the plains just west of the beautiful Bear Paw Mountains. The elevation is 2,765 feet above sea level. Climate conditions should be identical to nearby Box Elder. The citizens of South Box Elder should have economic conditions similar to that of nearby Box Elder if not more serious.
