It is one of the many communities of the Black Hills Indian Reservation. South Rincon is located 2.5 miles southeast of Pauma-Yuima. South Rincon is located on both sides of Valley Center Road or Highway S6. La Jolla Amago is 5.3 miles to the east. According to the 2000 census, the population of Rincon including South Rincon, was 1,495. However, there are 2 Rincon settlements. Rincon is located nearly 1 mile to the north. As with some of the other communities within the Black Hills Indian Reservation, many of the people are having problems identifying their race. Of the Rincon population of 1,495, only 411 identified themselves as Indian. At least 891 identified themselves as Mexican. And 413 identified themselves as white. At least 10 identified themselves as black and 12 Asian. As you can tell the brainwashing is working. There are 373 housing units in the 2 Rincon communities. The average household size is close to 4.0 persons per housing unit. Elevation at South Rincon is 980 feet above sea level. The location is mountainous and beautiful.
