South White Earth, Minnesota

Located in White Earth Reservations extreme southern portion and a part of White Earth CDP (census designated place), is South White Earth (Shaw-an Wa-vi Mos in Ojibway). It's population is included with that of White Earth CDP which is 424. South White Earth is about 0.5 miles south of White Earth cdp's main area. There are around 25 or more housing units in this small community. It is a rather new White Clay Reservation community. It was not around in 1991. It does not show up in google earth historical imagery until 2003. Population of South White Earth is probably between 50 and 100. Around 96% are Native American and 3% are white. CDP of White Earth covers 3.1 sq. mi. There are 165 housing units which means this CDP has around a 2.5 persons per housing unit average which is below normal for Chippewa settlements. Around 45% of CDP of White Earth's citizens, live below poverty line. Elevation is 1,156 feet above sea level. Zip code is 56591.
