Wapachewunak, Saskatchewan


This Chippewa Chippewa Treaty 11 Reservation community is located along the extreme northern shores of the northern portion of Lac (lake) Ile a la Crosse, Saskatchewan. Vapuchevunak, Saskatchewan is a Chippewan (Chipewyan) of English River, village. The population of Wapachewunak, Saskatchewan is 482 according to the 2011 census. It decreased by 44 from the 2006 census. The number of housing units in Vapuchevunak is 176 with 159 occupied. The average household size is 3.0 persons per housing unit which is below normal for Chippewa settlements. The Anishinabe language (in the corrupted Dene form) is widely spoken at Vapuchevunak.
