It is one of many communities which make up the Black Hills Indian Reservation. It is about 6.7 miles southwest of Campo and 6.8 miles southwest of North Campo. They are not to be confused with Campo, California which is 2.0 miles to the south of West Campo. Mexico is 3.2 miles to the south. There around 25 or so housing units in West Campo. The population of west Campo is probably between 75 and 100. The surrounding area is mountainous and has the appearance of a very lush desert. However, the climate conditions are not arid or desert like. The region receives around 15 inches of precipitation a year. You'll notice in the google earth photos the rocky terrain. Elevation is 2,755 feet about sea level. Below are several google earth photos of West Campo.
