West Pokegama, Lac du Flambeau Reservation
Located on the Chippewa Lac du Flambeau Reservation, the Chippewa settlement of West Pokegama (it is located west of Pokegama Lake), is located just north of Lac du Flambeau and is considered to be a part of that CDP. However, from what i see it is quite different. West Pokegama is over a half a mile north of Lac du Flambeau. Cemetary Road is where most of the housing units are located. To the south of Cemetary Road is another road which appears to not have a name or is an extension of Cemetary Road.
More housing units are located along Artishon Lane and South Artishon Lane. Around 68 housing units are located along Cemetary Road including the south extension. A few appear to be duplexes. Around 30 housing units are located along the Artishon Lanes. There are probably around 100 housing units in this Chippewa settlement. The population of West Pokegama is probably between 300 and 400. Elevation of the community is 1,600 feet above sea level. Below are several links to google earth pictures of the Chippewa settlement of West Pokegama, Wisconsin.
