White Earth CDP, White Earth Reservation


Located at White Earth Reservations extreme southwest portion, CDP (census designated place) of White Earth, has a population of 522 according to 2020's census. It's population decreased from 580 in 2010 to 522 in 2020. Many relocated to Ogema, Waubun and Mahnomen. Below are links to Bing Maps photos of White Earth CDP. There are two distinct areas of this CDP. A north one and a south one. Natives make up 91.8% of the population. Mixed bloods 5.9%. Whites 2.1%. Mexican's 1.0%. This small settlement is surrounded by forests and many lakes, which makes this region especially one that is beautiful during spring, summer, and autumn. White Earth CDP covers 3.1 sq. mi. or 8.0 sq. km. There are 235 housing units with 222 lived in. Average household size of this CDP is 2.6 persons per housing unit which is below normal for Ojibwa communities. This small settlement of White Earth CDP, is tribal headquarters (capital) of White Earth Reservation. Although this settlement is WER's tribal headquarters, around 45% of this settlements citizens live below poverty line. That's because very few businesses are located at this community which is located on "Reservation Trust Land." Elevation is 1,495 feet above sea level. Zip code is 56591.
