Winnie Dam, Leech Lake Reservation

It is a tiny settlement located near the northeastern shores of Lake Winnibigoshish. The housing units which number up to 15, are located along County Road 9, for about one mile before reaching Little Winnie Resort. Several other resorts are located in the same general region. It is located within Bowstring Lake Unorganized Territory which has a population of 1,166 according to the 2010 census. 61% of the unorganized territories population is Indian but 65% when including Mexicans and mixed bloods. About half of Bowstring Lake Unorganized Territory's area is within Leech Lake Reservation. The population is probably between 30 and 40. Elevation is 1,315 feet above sea level. The residents find employment at the nearby resorts. However, discrimination is probably a part of the structure. The owners of the resorts are non Indian and some may practice discrimination. Below are several google earth pictures of Winnie Dam, Leech Lake Reservation.
