Beardy's and Okemasis First Nation
Located about 45 miles northwest of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, is the Anishinabe beardy's and okemasis first nation. There are five Reserves which makes up this First Nation. They cover an area of 20,345 hectares or 50,273 total acres. Their ogima refused to participate in the 1885 Northwest Rebellion and was killed for his disloyalty to defending his peoples land. Total population is 2,988, with most (1,859) living off the five reserve, while 1,095 live on, and 33 live on other reserves, and 1 lives on crown land.
