Kebaowek First Nation of Quebec

On January 7, 1974 these Ojibway People of Kebaowek First Nation living in far western Quebec, were giving 53.1 acres or 21.5 hectares of land near Temiscaming, Quebec. Below are links to google earth photos of this Ojibway town. They are non signatories to either 1850's Robinson-Huron Treaty or Treaty 9. Algonquin Ojibway's of Ontario and Quebec, claim they have never ceded land. Many are descendants of Ojibway's who lived further south in Ontario where Alderville, Chippewa's of Rama, Curve Lake and Hiawatha are located. Canada is trying to assimilate these Ojibway's of Kebowek First Nation. On-Reserve population of Kebaowek First Nation is 274 according to 2016's census. They have 138 dwellings with 134 lived in. Average household size is 2.0 persons per household which is well below normal for Ojibway communities. Algonquin Dialect of Ojibway Language is no longer spoken among these Ojibway's from Kebaowek First Nation. Ontario is 7.0 miles or 11.3 kilometers to their west.
