Chippewa Indians Kettle & Stoney Point First Nation & History
This band of chippewa indians live on the east coast of lake huron, not to far from owen sound, ontario. Their tribal history includes many wars fought against the invading whites, and many of their ancestors fleeing to far northern ontario to escape from the white threat. Their ancestors signed the 1923 williams treaty which ceded their land and established their Kettle & Stoney Point first nation or reserve. Their total enrolled band population is over 2,159, with 1,294 living on reserve. The size of this first nation is 900 hectares or 2,224 acres.
