Nelson House First Nation

Located about 64 kilometers or 40 miles west of Thompson, Manitoba, is the Anishinabe nelson house first nation. In history, the Anishinabek possibly migrated to this region under ogima Kinistin's guidance during the decades between the 1860s and 1870s, or they forced their way in sometime during the 18th century to control the invading Freemasons who were, of course, the English and French, who were supplying the Athabascans and Dakotas with their guns and ammunition to fight the expanding Anishinabe people. There are 13 Reserve which make up this first nation. They cover an area of 9,974 total hectares or 24,646 total acres. Total population is 2,419, with most (1,378) living on reserve, while 970 live off reserves, and 12 live on other reserves, and 59 live on crown land.
