Chippewa Indians Pauingassi First Nation & History

This band of chippewa indians inhabit a region in manitoba where virtually no white settlements are located. Their history likely includes many of the anishinabek from minnesota, north dakota and wisconsin fleeing to that region to escape from the whites. Their first nation is situated just east of huge lake winnipeg, and is surrounded by countless other lakes and a vast forest. We might want to call their reserve the entire eastern end of lake winnipeg. The pauingassi band of chippewa indians are probably more numerous than the 583 the whites claim their first nation population to be. Supposedly out of the 583, 584 live on the reserve. There are no year round roads going to the reserve. I will not give the size of the first nation because its not necessary. Their history involves diasporas of anishinabek from other locations fleeing to that region. The seven fires prophecy led them to that region. Many of the band citizens still rely on fishing, hunting, and trapping for a living.
