Pikani First Nation
Located about 40 miles due west of Lethbridge, Alberta, is the Anishinabe, Dakota, Salishan, and probably Athabascans pikani first nation. There are two Reserves which make up this First Nation. They cover an area of 45,591 total hectares or 113,547 total acres. Total population is 3,424, with most (2,322) living on-reserve, while 1,102 live off-reserve. Many can trace their origins back to Montana, where they originally lived but were driven out by the whites, after the 1868-1886 war. Ogimak Big Bear or Sitting Bull, led them up to Canada.
