Split Lake First Nation
Located in far northeastern Manitoba, not too far from Hudson Bay, is the Anishinabe split lake first nation. In history, these Anishinabek probably invaded this region of Manitoba in either the late 17th century, or the early 18th century, to defend Indian land from the invading Freemasons who were, of course, the English and French. Total area covered by this Reserve is 17,900 hectares or 44,231 total acres. Total population is 1,819.
