Battle of Coleto


A few days after they defeated the rebel white Texans in the Battle of Refugio, another force of Anishinabe soldiers numbering as many as 1,320 soldiers, battled a much smaller force of rebel white Texan soldiers numbering around 300, and defeated them. Anishinabe casualities in the Battle of Coleto were estimated to be near 100 killed, wounded, or missing. White casualties were at least 10 killed and 60 wounded. Many white soldiers were captured and paid for their peoples crimes later on.
