July 20, 1866 Battle of Crazy Woman Creek

Once again brave Anishinabe Soldiers were forced to prepare themselves for battle against white invaders who had superior weapons. They did go into battle bravely on Friday July 20, 1866. Battle of Crazy Woman Creek was a part of Mullan Road War. A list of Mullan Road War battles is above. A force of 29 white soldiers was up to no dam good near Fort Kearny which led Anishinabe military commanders to send out some 50 of their soldiers to keep them in check. They caught wind of two whites and killed one of them while that other managed to reach another 27 soldiers. They formed their wagons into a circle and pulled out their evil ways. Soon after that white soldier reached those other 27 white soldiers, 50 Anishinabe Soldiers showed up and initiated battle. Within a few minutes a few white soldiers had been wounded. Just before night set in, a force of 47 white soldiers showed up and joined those besieged 27 white soldiers. Early next morning, that battle had ended and white soldiers were forced to return to Fort Reno. White casualties were 2 killed and 6 wounded. Anishinabe casualties are unknown.
