June 3-16, 1755 Battle of Fort Beausejour

Located in Nova Scotia, Fort Beausejour was a white fort that was crucial to whites early on in this conflict. A force of over 2,000 white soldiers forced their way to Fort Beausejour (it was constructed by French in probably 1750), to bolster that forts number of white soldiers. That region was still being dominated by Ojibway People (Wabanaki Confederation). Battle of Fort Beausejour was a part of Pontiac's War. Above is a list of Battles of Pontiac's War. In a battle that followed on Tuesday June 3, 1755, white soldiers held off then defeated brave soldiers of Wabanaki Confederation, which allowed for even larger numbers of white soldiers to eventually enter that region. Battle of Fort Beausejour ended on Monday June 16, 1755. White casualties were 12 killed and 22 wounded. Ojibway casualties may have been higher as a result of a prolonged battle.
