The Battle of Hanging Rock August 6, 1780

After the English had brought the South Carolina cities of Charleston and Savannah back under white control, they ordered their soldiers to expand out throughout the English colony of South Carolina, to bring the other white South Carolina cities back under white control. While the English were attempting to regain control of their South Carolina Colony, they met and battled a large force of brave soldiers from the Southern Anishinabe Confederation near what is now the South Carolina city of Heath Springs, on August 6, 1780. In the long battle that followed, the force of English Soldiers numbering around 2,200 who were stationed around the Heath Springs region, were incapable of dominating the large force of brave soldiers from the Southern Anishinabe Confederation. After several hours of fighting, the Indians and blacks discovered a large supply of firewater the English military force was in possession of and proceeded to get drunk, instead of finishing off the remaining English Soldiers, who took to the retreat once they realized the Indian and black soldiers were busy getting high. White casualties were over 200 killed and wounded in the battle.
