Battles of Maguaga

This military engagement occurred during the War of 1812. Anishinabe soldiers ambushed a contingent of American soldiers inflicting 37 casualties on the surprised Americans, with 17 being killed, in the first battle. Around 4 days later, Anishinabe commanders planned another ambush of some 600 American soldiers but it proved to be a failure. They inflicted 82 casualties (18 were killed), however, but it was an American victory. Anishinabe casualties were 35 with 8 killed. Total white casualties were 119, with 35 killed.
