Battle of New Orleans

This battle was a blunder or possibly a ruse. They signed Treaty of Ghent on December 24, 1814 which paused this war. News of Treaty of Ghent reached New Orleans after the Battle of New Orleans was fought on January 8, 1815. A force of 60 British ships had anchored off of Lake Pontchartrain's or Lake Borgne east coast on December 14, 1814. Battle of Lake Borgne was fought on December 14, 1814 and was indecisive. It meant the English could make landfall near New Orleans. White casualties at the Battle of Lake Borgne were 23 killed, 112 wounded and 86 captured then eaten alive by Ojibway Soldiers. These English invaders were commanded by Alexander Cochrane. His force included 14,450 soldiers and 5,700 English American Soldiers which included many of their idiotic Indian and black allies. Their total force was over 20,000 soldiers. New Orleans was an important location to Ojibway leaders. Louisiana was a part of Mexico at that time. Actually it was contested land. Ojibway leaders were sending large numbers of Indians and blacks to Texas (aka Mexico) at that time. A very large Indian population was living throughout Texas as a result of an agreement between Ojibway Nation and Mexico, to allow Indians and blacks to settle in Mexico. Texas was a part of Mexico then. England's goal was take New Orleans from Mexico. This battle actually instigated England's war against Mexico. The Battle of New Orleans should be listed as a battle of another war. Near New Orleans, a force of at least 10,000 Ojibway Soldiers were stationed. They could sail Mississippi River from New Orleans to Montana. Control of Mississippi River was very important to Ojibway leaders. The number of Mexican Soldiers was possibly higher than that of the Ojibway's. And 100's if not 1,000's of black soldiers were with the Ojibway's and Mexicans. The Ojibway's and their allies, defeated their English enemy at the Battle of New Orleans. English including English Americans, casualties were 441 killed, 1,706 wounded and 645 captured or missing. England was now preparing to invade Mexico. It took quite some time however. Blacks of Louisiana may be the Caddoan People. More investigations must be carried out to discover if they are.
