September 26, 1820 Battle of Tarpellanca
Considered to have been yet another battle of the Chilean War of Independence, the Battle of Tarpellanca was just another battle between the Anishinabe Army and army of the white confederation led by England, for control of South America. The whites had yet to give up in this long bitter war. A force of over 2,400 white soldiers attacked the city of Los Angeles which was defended by over 400 Anishinabe soldiers. The whites had tried to capture the city several times before but were driven off in defeat. This time the Anishinabe soldiers were deceived into evacuating the city to reinforce Chillan. They were ambushed by the white soldiers. For a good 13 hours the battle raged on but the smaller Anishinabe military force was nearly out of ammunition by that time. They were forced to surrender to the larger white military force. After the Anishinabe soldiers and about 1,000 civilians who had lived in Los Angeles (they were forced to leave with the Anishinabe soldiers), had surrendered, the white soldiers killed them all. It was a practice both peoples used.
